It would be great if I could set it to keep the screen alive while reading! It's really annoying that it goes dark in the middle of the page! It ruins the reading experience! I cannot immerse myself in the story if I have to pay attention to keep the screen alive! If I buy a book, I should be able to download it in any other format so I could read it on my cheap reader too! I bought the book, not an Amazon subscription!

The Kindle app is great for being able to take several books with me when we travel. it's especially great when there are sales on Amazon and I can grab books for less than a dollar. It also allows me to have several versions of the Bible as well as having commentaries with me at all times for doing Bible study where ever I am.

The UI breaks most of the time when resuming the app; the resolution shifts and it zooms in too far, causing it to cut off the footer and half the time it will open on the wrong page. At this point, I'm better off fully closing the app between readings, even if there's only a 5min difference. It has the worst dark mode theme I've seen on book apps. Defeats the point for reading at night and not wanting to impact those near you. 2025 update: ui bug still rampant.
