NikeSkims is officially back with its highly-anticipated second drop: a 65-piece collection that continues the fusion between Nike activewear and Skims shaping essentials.
It was back in September that NikeSkims first launched (the 26th, to be precise) – an exciting day for Kim Kardashian fans like me – following the founder's February announcement that her brand would be collaborating with Nike on a product line fittingly called NikeSkims. From that very moment, I had known it would be a collection I'd be covering. Much like H&M X Glenn Martens and M&S Bella Freud. Hugely popular, sell-out and buzzy.
On the day NikeSkims Drop 1 launched, it became clear that this wasn't just a one-off. Instead, an entirely new label combining the DNA of both brands. (If you’re just here to shop Drop 2, do so here right now).

What is NikeSkims?
NikeSkims is a new activewear line – stocked on both the Nike and Skims websites – that has been inspired by the strength of female athletes (and dedicated to women’s movement in all its many forms). When I previewed the collection in person, from stylish sports bras to black leggings with a twist, I was struck by how nice everything felt and looked. Everything is in classic black, chocolate brown, and rich maroon – and finishes range from super-shiny to compressive matte to breathable mesh.
And athletes agree. “I’m an athlete, but I love fashion too. It’s important for me to express myself, and I love how wearing NikeSKIMS allows me to do that,” says Jordan Chiles, an Olympic and world-champion gymnast. “The NikeSKIMS product is a game-changer. I love the quality, how it moves with me and supports me in all the right areas. I feel sleek, comfortable and completely myself.”
“Wearing NikeSKIMS makes me feel confident and unrestricted,” Sha’Carri Richardson, an Olympic and world-champion sprinter, adds. “I feel fierce knowing I can look and feel this good while working hard.” The collection even gets Serena Williams' cosignature. “It feels like butter on your skin,” she said.
What's the difference between NikeSkims Drop 1 and NikeSkims Drop 2?
The first drop featured an expansive selection of seven sub-collections (three core and four seasonal) with 58 silhouettes in total, ensuring there was a fit and style for everyone. Sizes ranged from XXS to 4X, and prices started at £16 for accessories (this headband) and maxed out at £158 for the Racer Onesie — true to form for both size-inclusive brands, and priced about the same as their own collections. The collection, unsurprisingly, sold out in minutes – and Drop 2 is set to sell out even faster.
The second drop features 65 silhouettes, where sculpting, cold-weather essentials will allow you to easily move from studio to brunch to the slopes. There are lots of new accessories included this time around, including socks, waist packs, and training gloves.
Each of the core collections returns, having been refreshed with new colour-ways (the tomato red is standout), new silhouettes and improved versatility. “Shine introduces bold, high-contrast panels in the new Shine Colorblock capsule; Matte continues to offer compression and smoothing with Nike Dri-FIT technology; and Airy delivers breathable, mesh-inspired pieces in both fitted and oversize styles for effortless layering,” NikeSkims announced.
Drop 2 also features a new seasonal collection: Woven Nylon – which is led by the Wrap Coat. Perhaps the star of the collection, it has been designed as a winter coat that can be layered over activewear.
How many NikeSkims core collections are there?
There are three core collections that have remained present in drops one and two. These are Matte, Shiny and Airy. The seasonal collections for drop one were Vintage Seamless, Matte Tricot, Weightless and Shiny Nylon, and the seasonal collection for drop two is Woven Nylon.
Whatever drop and collection you're shopping from, the pieces are stocked in a plethora of colours: black, maroon, grey and brown – and sizes run from 2XS through 4XL.
At the heart of the Matte collection are sweat-wicking daily essentials that have been designed for routine wear in mind – grabbing a coffee, the airport run etc. etc. – while the Shine collection has been designed with weight training in mind. They're sweat-wicking and breathable, and – you guessed it – with a shine finish. The Airy collection features knits which can be layered atop other activewear pieces in the collection.
And what's the deal with the campaign?
The launch of NikeSkims was punctuated by the drop of a short film by Janicza Bravo – called “Bodies at Work” – as well as a selection of still campaign shots that were shot by Luis Alberto Rodriguez and Rob Woodcox. Said artworks feature more than 50 (!) athletes wearing NikeSkims, from the aforementioned Serena Williams to Jordan Chiles, Sha’Carri Richardson and Kim Kardashian herself.
The Drop 2 designs come to life in a Christmas campaign that celebrates women as a collective, “spotlighting world-class speed skaters Maame Biney, Kamryn Lute, Kristen Santos-Griswold and Courtney Sarault on a NikeSKIMS branded rink.”
