Juggling feedback from multiple stakeholders, how do you keep your copywriting on target for the deadline?
When multiple stakeholders weigh in, copywriting can feel like a high-wire act. To hit your deadline without compromising quality, consider these steps:
- Consolidate feedback. Group similar comments together to streamline revisions.
- Set clear priorities. Determine which suggestions align best with the project goals.
- Communicate deadlines. Ensure all parties are aware of time constraints to avoid last-minute changes.
How do you balance feedback and deadlines? Feel free to share your strategies.

Ensuring the order of feedback and clarity in the ask is vital to the process. Who should be the first to check for facts? Who needs to have “last eyes”? Not all feedback is created equally and it’s critical to ensure that you are not getting feedback on feedback that is making material changes that will need to be reviewed again! Having the right order of operations, clear deadlines and clarity around what is being asked is key. For example; is it about facts or phrasing? Maybe it’s both but not from every reviewer. This can all be supported by clear messaging around the ask, a collaborative project management tool/workback schedule, document sharing, sign off process and calendar alerts.

When working with multiple stakeholders, I always find it helpful to define a time line for your own work (research, writing, sending out drafts) and the work for others (proof reading, multiple feedback rounds,...). Knowing the exact dedicated time frame for incorperating feedback allows you to stay organized as well as communicating your workflow and needed time for final text editing to every participant. Communicate transparently about how much time you need so everyone knows when to send their feedback in. It also helps to have a feedback deadline for your client: Send in your feedback until (insert date and time here). This is a hard deadline, no more feedback afterwards.

The best way to handle feedback from multiple stakeholders is to set a time limit for each comment on the text. Depending on the delivery deadline, if some feedback hasn’t been submitted yet, the best approach is to move forward with the delivery as scheduled. Next time, it’s worth reinforcing to everyone the importance of collaboration—not just to meet deadlines but to ensure the quality of the final work.

All the stakeholders with approval responsibility are given a master schedule prior to the project start. Each Milestone Deadline is marked in Red with a 48hour Final Approval deadline included at each phase. This allows for client internal sign off as well. All my projects require cumulative approval, the next phase is dependent on final approval of the previous phase, upon which the next phase will be built upon. Having to go back and undo what was previously approved will always be expensive (budget increases expensive) and could impact the delivery dates.

It’s definitely tricky juggling feedback and deadlines, but I try to focus on what moves the project forward. As a copywriter, I stick to the main message and use feedback that helps make it clearer and more impactful.

Clear communication and prioritization are key when juggling feedback from multiple stakeholders. Consolidate feedback to identify common themes, address critical revisions first, and maintain alignment with the project’s core objectives. Staying organized and setting clear boundaries ensures deadlines are met without compromising quality.
