Even though the EU is taking strong steps to drive digital transformation, there is still a long way to go: 🔹Deployment of fibre and 5G stand-alone networks are still progressing slower than expected 🔹The adoption of key technologies like AI, cloud and data analytics in small and medium enterprises is also facing some challenges to achieve the goal of 75% uptake by 2030 🔹Digital skills remain an ongoing concern, with just over half of the EU population having basic digital skills and the shortage of ICT specialists persisting 🔹Digitalisation of public services in the EU is advancing steadily and effectively to 100%, however a substantial portion of governmental digital infrastructure continues to depend on service providers outside the EU At the same time, together with the 27 EU countries we are actively working towards technological sovereignty through several actions, including: 🔹 National roadmaps, which outline 2 000 measures, for a total 288.6 billion euros, to advance the digital transformation 🔹 EU funding opportunities to boost innovation, such as InvestAI, Digital Europe and CEF Digital 🔹 A growing network of EU supercomputers 🔹 Legislation to ensure fair digital markets – DMA – and safer online environments for everyone – DSA 🔹The AI Continent Action plan 🔹Simplification of processes And more is still to come!
