The full account of Weitao and Piera’s work on aryne-mediated arylation of Hantzsch esters, including the formation of some highly substituted spiro(benzocyclobutenes), has been accepted for publication as a feature article in Synthesis! The paper also discusses the results of computational calculations run by David Palomas and Rachel Crespo-Otero (QMUL), as well as biological testing from Saeed Afshinhavid and Farideh Javid (Huddersfield).
