- With the E in the EASY framework, we're establishing two key things: we're establishing rapport and establishing a goal for the conversation. Think about this. How likely are you to share something uniquely personal to you with someone who was shown little interest in who you are beyond the day-to-day nature of your job? I'm guessing the likelihood would be low, right? Establishing rapport is a prerequisite for meaningful connections in a team, as emphasized by organizational psychologist John Amaechi, who stated, "Before intimacy comes information." One of the ways you can establish rapport is to be an authentic leader. In practice, an authentic leader is genuine. Their values and beliefs align with their actions. Their people trust them because they mean what they say and say what they mean. You can demonstrate authenticity in several ways.
