My Repurchase AND Holy Grail!!!!!!!!!
I never and I mean NEVER write reviews for products. But I HAD to for this product!!! I notice its a bit on the unpopular side and I truly do not see why. I realize everyone has different hair types and what works for me might not work for you. But lemme yap and put you on something!!! (No I was not paid for this review) So to preface: I have thin, no body, a-little-past-shoulder length, 2b on a bad day and 2c-3a on a good day, low porosity hair. If you can relate… baybeeeee!!! Listen up and get out your pen!!!!! I'm still learning about my hair and I notice thicker consistency gels pull my curls down as soon as I scrunch it into my hair. So I aim for more liquidy/watery gels!! I notice low hold gels have that high slip, watery consistency too so I took a chance on LATINA Gel Liquido because it was also advertised as low hold. The smell is different… not bad… but once in my hair it actually meshes well with all the other products with fragrance and smells VERY GOOD!! Not strong for my girlies that are fragrance-sensitive. Definitely is watery, but once I scrunch it in my hair its like it freezes into the PERFECT curl!!!!!! I wish they sold a jumbo in this stuff because I would buy 10!!! And let me tell you… no flakes, no crunchiness, no stickiness, ACTUALLY holds despite it being low hold, NO frizz, does NOT weigh my hair down, everything you could want in a gel!!! However for my girlies that rake gel in and then use the bounce curl brush to define without scrunching… Ive never tried that with this gel. I feel like its a better scrunch gel. So are you influenced????? Convinced??? I literally cant rave enough about this gel. I would advertise this gel if LATINA let me… Just buy it.. if you read all this I think its proof you should make the purchase!! Stay beautiful girl 💕
2C / 3A Curls
I used to use the Pattern set products, but I learned that it was too heavy for my 2C/3A curl pattern (except for the leave-in conditioner). I live in Southern California and the weather is pretty dry (which is why I went for Pattern). I am learning how to take care of my curls and I realized two things: 1) even if they're the same curl pattern, cultural background does affect your hair's needs and 2) this Latina product works for this Latina. The products are on the thin/watery side, so I do feel like I need to use more of the product, but I have noticed that my hair isn't as weighed down as before. For Steps 1-4, heres what I think: 1 (shampoo) & 2 (conditioner) - both smell good and clean without making my hair feel dry, but the runniness makes me feel like I need to use a lot of product 3 (curl activator) - I dont know what it does, but I do noticed a positive changd in my hair when I use it 4 (light hold gel) - works but I feel like it's a bit sticky. I feel like I need a stronger one.
Didn't love it
Hair Type Very Curly Hair
I'm south american and was very excited to try a product that promised to be good for latina curls. Unfortunately I didn't love it.I tried the liquid gel with the recommended curl creme but I was underwhelmed with the final result. I've gotten similar and better results with cheaper products. After day one my curls just looked terrible. The products don't reactivate very well so I ended up returning the products.
Just OK
Hair Type Wavy Hair
For reference I have very dry and frizzy 2C type hair. This gel was lightweight and provided some definition. It did not help with my frizz and was not hydrating enough for me. Also, it leaves a slight residue so that you feel it on your hair. It is light hold so if you need curl enhancement, this is not for you. It did provide definition to my already curly hair.
OMG
Hair Type Wavy Hair
The best gel ever! As its name suggests, it's truly liquid, has a delicious scent, is easy to spread through the hair, and leaves a perfectly natural style.
