Foot fetishism, called podophilia, is a marked fetish interest in human feet.
It is one of the most common fetish in men.
It should be clarified that, although the term fetishism is used to refer to this paraphilia, the term partialism would be more appropriate. This is so because the word fetishism refers to fixation on material objects, such as footwear or leather, basically on non-living things. On the other hand, when erotic fixation is projected onto a specific part of the body, it is partialism, since sexual pleasure is obtained by reducing the entire body to only one of its parts.
According to this definition, fetishism and partialism are two different types of paraphilias, and should therefore be treated differently by psychology and sexology.
