RAMS INTO COP AND GETS SHOTWhat started as a routine police check in Bismarck, North Dakota, ended in tragedy. On March 7, police shot and killed 53-year-old Melanie Udell after she rammed an officer with her car. The whole thing was caught on bodycam.
Officers Matthew James and Nathan Anderson responded to a suspicious vehicle call. A witness had reported a disoriented woman inside a white Chevy, even fearing she might try to run him over. When they arrived, Officer James began calmly talking to Udelluntil he caught a strong smell of weed and booze. He asked her to step out, but she refused. Instead, she started the engine and drove straight at him.
James barely dodged the car, but Udell wasnt done. She turned the wheel, hit the gas, and slammed into him. He went flying into a fence, lost his weapon, and ended up partially trapped under the barrierright in the cars path.
At that point, Officer Anderson opened fire, killing Udell behind the wheel. Her car stopped in a snowbank just a few feet from the injured officer.
James was hospitalized with injuries to his head, leg, and hands. Hes been discharged but will need knee surgery and is expected to be out of service for about a year.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation ruled that Andersons use of force was justified. Both officers are currently on leave pending further review.

THE BEST PART OF SIDESHOWSThe sideshow phenomenon also known as street takeovers dates back to the late '80s and early '90s, especially in Oakland, California.
They started out as a form of youth expression, mainly within the African-American community. At first, they were smaller meetups in parking lots or backstreets, where people showed off their tuned cars, did donuts, burnouts, races, and other wild stunts.
Over time, they got bigger, began blocking intersections, and caught more media and police attention.
By the 2000s, the trend had spread to other cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Houston. In recent years, with social media in the mix, its gone full-on viral. These days, street takeovers are more organized but still totally illegal.
The best part of these events, if you ask me, is whats captured in the videos below.

RUN OVER OR GET RUN OVERThere are dilemmas in life that simply don't have a good answer. Choosing one option or the other will leave you in a difficult situation, and it's hard to determine which is the lesser evil. Do you speed up and run someone over to escape, or do you stay and face the fury of an enraged mob determined to make you pay for what happened? You decide.
This dilemma is reflected in two videos of street car meets. In the first one, a car accidentally hits another. The owners of the hit car get out and start attacking the occupants of the first car, who, in their attempt to escape, accelerate and run over several people.
In the second video, something similar happens: a car hits another and the occupants of the hit car react violently. The guys inside the car don't speed up to escape and end up being brutally beaten through the window, with the front and rear windshields smashed, until they are finally dragged out and assaulted by an enraged mob intent on beating them up.
